Objective:
1. Identify the stages of meiosis, and discuss the movement of chromosomes through the stages.
2. Explain why the daughter cells of meiosis are both haploid and not identical to the original parent cells.
3. Explain the differences between Meiosis I and Meiosis II.
4. Explain the sources of variation in meiosis, and why variation is beneficial for a population.
5. Compare Spermatogenesis and oogenesis
6. Correctly read a karyotype to identify chromosomal diseases.
7. Discuss chromosomal mutations (duplication, deletion, translocation and inversion) as well as the results of these mutations.
8. Discuss polyploidy, aneuploidy, trisomy and monosomy in terms of chromosomal mutations.
9. Correctly use karyotype notation when identifying and discussing diseases.
10. Compare and Contrast mitosis and meiosis
